Shania Hayles bagged her 10th goal of the season in the first half, before Lily Agg levelled for the visitors.

Grace Clinton then headed home from a set-piece and Morgan bundled the ball into the back of the net to all but seal an important three points.

Wednesday night’s result sees London City Lionesses and Bristol City Women sit level on points at the top of the Barclays Championship table. Only goal difference separates the two sides, with the London-based side currently on a superior total.

“It’s a massive three points against London City Lionesses - top-of-the-table clash and we’ve come out on top at home,” said Morgan.

“We were celebrating everything at the end. I think everyone got their head on the ball on the goal-line as well right at the end, and that’s what it means to us.

“It was a high-intensity game and we knew that it would be coming into it. We wanted to move the ball quickly but if we’re being honest it probably wasn’t our best football but the most important thing is that we got the win."

The Welsh flyer was back on the pitch after a prolonged period on the sideline with a knee-injury and she couldn’t deny how good it felt to be back amongst the action.

"It has felt like I have been out for ages. I’ve been working closely with the performance team and the physios to get me back to where I was before I was out and I feel like I’m looking sharp - it's good to get a goal as well.
