Naomi Layzell joins Manchester City.

City can confirm Naomi Layzell has joined Manchester City, in what is a club record fee received for the defender.

The 20-year-old centre back is a product of the Bristol City academy, and made her Barclays Women’s Super League debut for the Robins aged 16 - her first of 77 club appearances.

At the end of the 2023/24 WSL season, she was awarded both the Bristol City Supporters Club and Trust Young Player of the Season and the Players’ Player of the Season award.

“We’re really pleased Naomi and wish her every success with Manchester City,” said Head Coach Lauren Smith.

“She’s a brilliant player and a great person and we’ll certainly miss having her here at Bristol City, but she’s shown she can compete at the top level, and we’d never stand in the way of a player’s progression.

“I’m sure she’ll have a fantastic career and we’re proud to call her one of our own.”
