Palmer thriving in leadership role.

Since graduating from the club’s academy in 2017, the Norwich-born midfielder has racked up more than 50 first team appearances over three seasons at the club, either side of a two-year spell at Manchester United.

Palmer has been an integral cog in the Robins midfield over the last two campaigns, none more so this season which has seen her don the armband for the very first time.

Speaking to Robins TV, Palmer said: “Throughout my career I feel like I have been a leader even though I am still young, I feel I have always had that within me and it’s been nice to be given that opportunity and responsibility to lead the team.

“It’s had its challenges but all that’s done is build me up for the rest of my career.”

The central midfielder has also been productive in front of goal this season, scoring three goals and providing three assists, adding: “It’s something I have wanted to add more of to my game, getting goals and assists because it’ll help the team to win. We’re not going to win if we don’t score, there is definitely more I want to add, but I am happy with how the season has gone so far.

Palmer previously worked with Lauren Smith in the head coach’s first term with the club in the Development Squad and believes their honest relationship has aided the growth of the midfielder’s all-round game.

“I’ve worked with her (Lauren) closely before in the ‘Devs’ (Development Squad), so it was really good to have her come back. I knew where I stood from the beginning, which was nice,” said Palmer.

“She’s always honest with me and that’s helping me with my football as well and it’s good that we have that relationship as captain and head coach.”
