City are back on the road as they head to North London to face Arsenal on Sunday, April 14th (6:45pm).
It’s the third meeting of the two clubs this season, with Arsenal winning the previous two encounters, 3-1 in the Continental Tyre’s Women’s League Cup Group Stage, and 2-1 in the Barclays Women’s Super League in front of over 12,000 fans at Ashton Gate in October.
The Sky Sports cameras are in town for this one, just as they were in the reverse fixture in BS3, and Lauren Smith’s side will be looking for a similar display to the one they put in against The Gunners in October, in which they ran Jonas Eidevall’s side close.
Ffion Morgan, who’s played a key part in City’s last few games, will be looking to continue her good form of late, fresh from scoring her first international goal during the break in Wales’ 6-0 defeat of Kosovo.
OUR OPPONENTS: ARSENAL
Founded: 1987
Stadium: Meadow Park/Emirates Stadium
Manager: Jonas Eidevall
Nickname: The Gunners
Finish Last Season: 3rd
Although they’ve fallen a little short of expectation thus far, Arsenal are still mathematically in the Women’s Super League title race.
The most decorated club in English Women’s Football history, The Gunners ended their four-year wait for a trophy last season, winning the Continental Tyre’s Women’s League Cup in May, before beating Chelsea to retain the trophy last month.
Eidevall’s side have had a mixed campaign and find themselves nine points behind league leaders Chelsea, albeit with tomorrow's game in hand, but have been boosted by the returns of Vivianne Miedema, Beth Mead and Leah Williamson from long-term injuries which kept them out for large chunks of the season.
With a record 15 League Titles already to their name, The Gunners will be looking to at least put the top two under some pressure as we head into the business end of the season.
