Bristol City are on the road for the first time in 2025 as they make the trip to league leaders Birmingham City on Sunday, January 26th (2pm).

Steve Kirby will be looking for a response from his side after last week’s 1-0 defeat to London City Lionesses at Ashton Gate, only the Head Coach’s third loss since taking over in September.

Nothing could separate The Robins and Blues in the reverse fixture earlier on in the season in what was a tight encounter in BS3, and Kirby’s side will be expecting a similar contest this time around.

OUR OPPONENTS: BIRMINGHAM CITY

Founded: 1968
Stadium: St Andrew’s
Nickname: The Blues
Manager: Amy Merricks
Finish Last Season: 5th

Birmingham City find themselves in the second tier of English football after relegation from the Barclays Women’s Super League in 2022.

The Blues finished a point behind The Robins in 2022/23 as Lauren Smith’s side won the Championship, going agonisingly close to promotion back to the WSL at the first time of asking.

Amy Merricks was appointed as Head Coach after a disappointing campaign last time out which saw Birmingham finish fifth, and after a strong summer transfer window, her side have made a brilliant start to the season, finding themselves top after eleven games.

Merricks and Kirby will both be reiterating the importance of this one at St Andrew’s, with Birmingham looking to pull further away at the summit, whilst The Robins know they can go level with their opponents with a win.
