Bristol City are back in Women’s League Cup action as they host Birmingham City at the Robins High Performance Centre on Sunday, November 24th (3pm).

City are currently second in their group after the 1-1 draw with Barclays Women’s Super League side Leicester City last month, in which they picked up a bonus point after beating The Foxes on penalties.

The Robins are in fine form under Steve Kirby, winning five of their last six games, as last week’s 2-1 victory over Charlton Athletic took them up to third in the division, as Lexi Lloyd-Smith scored her sixth league goal of the season, and Libby Bance got her first for the club.

OUR OPPONENTS: BIRMINGHAM CITY

Founded: 1968
Stadium: St Andrew’s
Nickname: The Blues
Manager: Amy Merricks
Finish Last Season: 5th

Birmingham City have made a strong start to the season under Amy Merricks, finding themselves top of the Barclays Women’s Championship after winning six of their opening nine games.

The Blues are however bottom of the League Cup group, albeit only after one game, as they were beaten 3-0 by strong WSL side Brighton and Hove Albion on matchday one.

This is the second time The Robins have hosted Birmingham already this season, with the two sides playing out a goalless draw in a tight affair at Ashton Gate in September. Both sides have found their form since then, with City only two points behind their opponents at the summit in the league.
