Bristol City make their return to action after the festive break as they host London City Lionesses at Ashton Gate on Sunday, January 19th (2pm).

City will be looking to pick up where they left off as they enter 2025 in a rich vein of form, winning six of their last seven league games.

The Robins rounded off 2024 with a resounding 5-0 win over Durham at Ashton Gate, a result which saw them go joint top of the Barclays Women’s Championship.

Head Coach Steve Kirby has been boosted this month by the signings of Lia O’Leary and Jess Simpson from Shamrock Rovers and Manchester United respectively, with both players in contention to feature this weekend.

OUR OPPONENTS: LONDON CITY LIONESSES

Stadium: Hayes Lane Stadium
Nickname: The Lionesses
Manager: Jocelyn Prêcheur
Finish Last Season: 8th

London City Lionesses were founded in 2019 after going independent, having formerly played under the name Millwall Lionesses.

They have been a mainstay in the Barclays Women’s Championship since then, coming closest to promotion in 2022/23, when they finished third and were pipped to the title by the Robins.

Last season turned out to be a disappointing one for The Lionesses, but the takeover by Korean-American entrepreneur Michele Kang sparked new life into the club. Kang wasted no time in making an impact, appointing Jocelyn Prêcheur, formerly of Paris Saint-Germain, as manager, and signing Swedish National Team captain Kosovare Asslani.

They have had a strong first half of the season this time around, finding themselves third after ten games, just a point behind The Robins and Birmingham City, who are joint top of the division.
