Bristol City host Newcastle United at Ashton Gate on Sunday, November 10th (2pm).

Head Coach Steve Kirby will be looking for a response from his side after last week's narrow 4-3 defeat to Sunderland, ending a run of four games unbeaten for The Robins.

Mari Ward got her first senior City goal in the defeat to The Lasses, and Lexi Lloyd-Smith continued her fine form in front of goal, bagging her fourth of the season in the League so far.

In 2016, Newcastle United Women became officially affiliated with Newcastle United FC, and six years later, restructuring allowed for them to be fully brought under the clubs new ownership, with plans to transition to full-time football.

At the beginning of last season, they went professional, and marked their first full-time season with a League title, sealing promotion to the Barclays Women’s Championship with a 10-0 win over Huddersfield Town in April.

The Magpies have started the season in strong fashion, winning four of their opening seven games and finding themselves fourth in the table, two points behind Birmingham City at the summit, with a game in hand.

Former Robin Shania Hayles is the division's top scorer, and she isn’t the only familiar face returning to Ashton Gate, with Elyssia Boddy, Rachel Furness and Lia Cataldo, all of whom were part of City’s 2022 promotion winning squad, also playing their trade in the North East.
