Preview: Newcastle United (H).

Bristol City play at Ashton Gate for the final time this season as they welcome Newcastle United on Sunday, 26th April (2pm).

Charlotte Healy will be looking to finish the season in BS3 on a positive note, and a win over The Magpies could see City go fourth with one game to play.

Lexi Lloyd-Smith and Rio Hardy are joint top scorers in the division, two of six players on eight goals, with Arsenal loanee Jessie Gale on their tails with seven, and the three of them will be keen to add to their respective tallies to give themselves the best chance of winning the Barclays Women’s Super League 2 golden boot.

OUR OPPONENTS: NEWCASTLE UNITED

Newcastle United were promoted to the WSL2 as Champions at the end of the 2023/24 season, having turned professional at the beginning of that campaign.

After finishing a respectable fifth in their first second tier season, The Magpies have endured a very similar time this year, finding themselves fourth with two games remaining.

They had started the season slowly however, with Tanya Oxtoby, whose last spell as a manager was with City, taking over from Becky Langley in November.

Former Robin Shania Hayles has again played a large part for Newcastle throughout the 2025/26 season, whilst fellow ex-Red Lia Cataldo will miss out after she was ruled out for the remainder of the campaign at Christmas with injury.
