City hit the road for the second time in four days as they visit Tottenham Hotspur in The FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup.

It’s the second time The Robins have made the trip to Brisbane Road this season, following the 3-1 league defeat to Spurs in October.

Amalie Thestrup got City’s only goal that day, and the club’s top scorer bagged her fourth of the season in the 2-2 draw with Everton on Sunday in the Women’s Super League.

Lauren Smith’s side come into this one second bottom of their Conti Cup group with one point, which they gained in the 1-1 stalemate with Southampton earlier in the season.

Tottenham Hotspur were promoted to the Women’s Super League for the first time in 2019, finishing second in the Championship.

It was in their first season in the WSL that Spurs hosted a North London Derby against Arsenal at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium which broke the league record attendance at the time, with 38,262 fans present to witness a 2-0 defeat to The Gunners.

Spurs have made a strong start to the season under new manager Robert Vilahamn, finding themselves fifth in the WSL with three wins, three draws and just one defeat from seven games. Former Robins loanee Grace Clinton, on loan from Manchester United, has made a good start to her temporary Lilywhites career, which saw her earn a first England senior call-up last month.

Another new signing, Martha Thomas, also joining from United but on a permanent deal, has made an electric start to the season with her six goals from seven games the most of anyone in the WSL.

Vilahamn’s side are second in Conti Cup Group D on three points, after comfortably beating Reading 6-0 in October.
