Bristol City welcome West Ham United to Ashton Gate in a huge Barclays Women’s Super League fixture on Sunday, 28th January (2pm).
Lauren Smith’s side are still looking for their first three points of the season at home, but will take confidence from the 3-2 win over The Hammers in East London earlier in the campaign.
Abi Harrison bagged her first of the season in last week’s narrow defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion, and will be looking to strike again in front of a crowd of over 5,000 in BS3.
OUR OPPONENTS: WEST HAM UNITED
Founded:1991
Stadium: The Chigwell Construction Stadium
Nickname: The Hammers
Manager: Rehanne Skinner
Finish Last Season: 8th
West Ham have been WSL regulars since their induction in 2018, finishing consistently mid-table in their first few seasons in the top flight. They have not faced any real danger of the drop and reached the FA Cup final in 2019, eventually being beaten by Manchester City.
The Hammers have endured a tough season so far this time round however under Rehanne Skinner, who replaced Paul Konchesky as manager in May. They find themselves second bottom, level on points with The Robins, meaning Sunday’s result has the potential to have huge implications for both teams come the end of the campaign.
Goals from Amalie Thestrup, Ella Powell and Brooke Aspin saw Smith’s side take maximum points from the Chigwell Construction Stadium in November’s return fixture, and Skinner will undoubtedly be looking for retribution on Sunday.
