Williams focuses on the performance of the players so they can transition easily into Lee Johnson’s team with the same playing style and mindset as the senior squad.
“At this level it is really about us trying to look at the players and see how they address things and the problems in their game, to see how they cope with pressures and difficult opponents,” said Williams.
With 20 players out on loan, Williams sees an opportunity for younger players to be recognised and take on roles in the Under-23s.
He believes the majority are playing at the highest level they have played at so far and hopes to see them develop further against Ipswich Town Under-23s at Bath City’s Twerton Park this evening (7pm).
Williams added: “The season has been very good for players’ visibility, there has been lots of positive loans and Under-18s getting early exposure in the Under-23s.”
The fixture is free for all supporters.
