Salmon has been added to Hege Riise’s 20-player squad for the Lionesses’ five-day intensive training camp in Staffordshire, that will be operated under strict COVID-19 elite sport guidelines.

It means the City striker could be in line to earn her first England cap when the Lionesses take on Northern Ireland the following Tuesday (February 23rd, 12.30pm KO).

Salmon, with nine goals in all competitions this season, will meet the England squad on Thursday, February 18th, when she will play alongside the likes of Steph Houghton, Lucy Bronze, Ellen White and Jill Scott.

The Lionesses are preparing for their involvement in Team GB’s Olympic campaign, while also working towards the UEFA Women's EURO, which is due to take place across England in summer 2022.

Interim Robins Head Coach Matt Beard expressed his delight on Salmon’s call-up.

He said: “She thoroughly deserves this. She’s more than just a player off the shoulder and I’ve seen that close up over the last few weeks. She has a fantastic attitude and I’ll say it again, she thoroughly deserves this.

“She’s scored goals and is versatile up front so this is exciting for her, the club and England. She’s going to go to the top level because she has that hunger and desire, the nastiness you need and I’m delighted for her.”
