A first half own goal and second half double from Abi Harrison and Aggie Beever-Jones saw City Women thump Blackburn Rovers Ladies 3-0 in front of 3,053 at Ashton Gate.

Smith said: “They were excellent today, credit to (the players) for the clean sheet today, we said we need a better performance after Coventry away and it shows that when teams come to us we make it hard for any team.

“There is a bit of work to do to be more clinical but scoring three goals puts a line in the sand about what we can do when we click and play in tight corners and really risk things.

“Everyone took their chance, Gwen with her first start who was excellent. Players coming into the game were excellent and fair play to everyone who took part today.”
