Shania Hayles opened the scoring in the first half with an opportunistic header, before strikes from Jodie Hutton and Jesse Woolley put the Reds firmly in the driving seat.

Emily Syme rounded off the scoring in spectacular style as her rifled effort dipped under the bar much to the delight of the 450 strong crowd at the Robins High Performance Centre

“I’m really pleased, especially after that second half,” said Smith. “We challenged ourselves to make sure we upped the tempo and intensity, because I didn’t feel we had that in the first half.

“Credit to the players, they go and change things and they’re impactful, they listen and take things on board when we need to change it up.

“We still looked like we were a threat in the first-half, we just didn’t move the ball like we usually do and as soon as we did, we created a lot more chances.”

Smith also went on to credit the impact of the substitutes, who all made a difference when they stepped onto the field as well as Academy players given their chance in the squad.

“All five subs came on and made an impact. Younger Academy players are also coming into the squad and proving themselves, and showing what they’re about. I love watching them when they come on and I was also pleased with our goal-scorers as well!"
