Syme eager to get back in front of home support.

City are back at the Robins High Performance Centre after a three-week hiatus for the international break, followed by the postponement of last weekend’s football due to the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

Summer signing Emily Syme has revealed the group are champing at the bit to get back on the pitch.

“We’ve had an extra weekend to prepare and focus on this game but I know that everyone is excited to get back playing again - we’ve missed it,” she said.

Syme was on the scoresheet in her first game back at the club against Blackburn Rovers. The midfielder rejoined City after starting her journey in the West Country at Under-15s level, before progressing through the club's academy system to make one WSL appearance during the 2017/18 campaign.

“The fans were great against Blackburn - we had a good turnout and we could really hear them from the pitch - to get my first goal in front of everyone was great.

“I’ve enjoyed being back so far! The girls have been really welcoming and I have settled in nicely. It’s a lovely facility and it’s really good to have such a high level of staff - to get back in, scoring and playing is brilliant.”

Syme has praised the culture within the City camp with the new squad seeming to be singing from the same hymn sheet in the early stages of the season, which the midfielder believes will bode well when adversity strikes at points throughout the campaign.

“Everyone is on the same page, everyone knows what we want to do and how we want to do it. When we hit moments of adversity throughout the season I believe we have the right environment to be able to work through it, but we’re alright for now!

“It’ll be good for us to get into a run of games now after the break, find some real consistency and show progression on the pitch.”
