Trio complete Oxtoby's backroom staff.

Davies comes to the West Country as the club’s new Head of Physical Performance, Smith will be working with Sophie Baggaley as Head of Goalkeeping, whilst Billy comes on board in the medical department as Physiotherapist.

Robins Manager, Tanya, Oxtoby said: “I’m delighted that after an intensive period of recruitment – both internally and externally – we have built a strong backroom team as we embark on new campaign.

“All three new staff members stood out throughout the application process and we are looking forward to seeing help develop our players, and also continue to grow within their roles individually.

“I’m looking forward to working closely with Ellen, Dan and Yaw throughout the upcoming season on how we can take out our physical and football performance to the next level.”  

ELLEN DAVIES

Davies joins City Women’s backroom staff following two seasons working on the south coast in the Brighton and Hove Albion medical team throughout their Premier League campaigns.

“I’m delighted to come on board with Bristol City Women and work in the ever-growing Barclays FA Women’s Super League,” said Davies

“I would like to thank Tanya for giving me the opportunity to work with a great group of players and staff, and I look forward working with the players on a daily basis to push them physically and make sure they’re in the best condition possible to perform on the pitch.”

DAN SMITH

Smith arrives in the West Country from fellow Barclays FAWSL side, West Ham United where he undertook the role of Head of Academy Goalkeeping as well as working with the First Team.

“It’s fantastic to be given an opportunity to work at a club such as Bristol City Women, it’s a fantastic club and the opportunity to coach here was something that instantly appealed to me,” said Smith.

“I’m looking forward to working with the coaching staff at Bristol City and helping to develop the goalkeepers further. The club has a reputation for bringing players through the Academy system and I look forward to furthering their development.

“Sophie is a top class talent at a very young age, we all know what she is capable of at this early stage in her career, so I’m excited to get to work with her and push her to fulfil potential of being a world class goalkeeper.”

YAW BILLY

Billy has switched hemispheres for the opportunity to work with Bristol City Women in the Barclays FAWSL.

The physiotherapist arrives from native Australia, where he was Head of Medical for Sydney FC Women during their title winning campaign in 2018/19. Billy has plethora of experience across multiple sports having also worked with Sydney FC’s men and academy side, Waratahs Women in Rugby Union and the Sydney University Flames basketball team.

“Firstly, I would like to thank Tanya and Bristol City for giving me the opportunity to come over and work in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League,” said Billy. 

“It’s a new challenge for me, in a new country and I’m looking forward to working closely with a fantastic group of players and staff to help the club achieve success on the pitch this season.”
