We Are Delighted - Emslie.

Emslie gave the Vixens a half-time lead, but they were pegged back midway through the second half when new manager Lee Burch introduced Rinsola Babajide from the bench to equalise.

But Emslie struck again moments later to send Bristol City a point clear of Yeovil Town, but it wasn't long lived after they beat Aston Villa 2-0 on Sunday, July 31st.

Emslie said: “We had most of the possession and hit their bar twice, so I think it’s a fair result on reflection and we’re all delighted.

“We’re on a bit of a run at the moment and we started the game really well. If we had taken our chances in the first-half we could have been out of sight.

“If we can continue to learn from each game then we’re sure that we can continue to get the wins we need to push for the top of the table.

“For the first goal it was such a neat ball by Chloe (Arthur). It took me a bit by surprise and I didn’t have much time to think. I just saw the ball come across the box and swung my foot at it.

“It might’ve taken a slight deflection on the way in but I’ll definitely take it and add it to my tally because I’ve only got a few goals this year."

The visitors started brightly and could have taken the lead early when Olivia Fergusson struck the crossbar with a deft volley when she connected to Emslie’s cross.

The Vixens took the lead in the 11th minute when Emslie stroked the ball home from five yards after a neat cut-back by Arthur.

After the break it was a similar story and Flo Allen was unfortunate not to double the lead when her audacious dipping shot from 35 yards rattled the cross bar in the 54th minute.

The Lionesses grew in confidence and drew level in the 62nd minute when the ball fell invitingly for Babajide who slotted into an empty net from six yards.

Emslie put the visitors back in the lead a minute later though, when her speculative curling effort from 25 yards nestled into the bottom left-hand corner of Grace Taylor’s net.

The Vixens face WSL1 team Chelsea in a friendly at the Stoke Gifford Stadium on Sunday, August 7th (KO 2pm).

Tickets can be purchased in cash on the gate with prices starting at £2 for U12s.
