'We didn't do our roles' - Smith.

08 Jun 2026BCW Media Team

Atlanta Primus found the net twice in the 10 minutes after half-time as Bristol City saw their lead at the top of the table shrink to three points.

"The better team won today," said Smith. "They were better all round, their press was better, they picked up the first and second balls more often than we did and I think overall they wanted it more than we did.

"The goals may be scrappy but they've gone in the back of the net. They took their chances where we didn't and I know that the players will be frustrated with this one, gutted as well, but there's nothing more to it than the fact they were better than us today.

"We didn't do our roles. At times we started to play as individuals rather than a team. We changed shape to try and fill a few gaps but that didn't work either, though I don't think any formation would work if we're not getting behind each other."
