The Robins take on the Seagulls at The People’s Pension Stadium at 2.30pm on Sunday afternoon and Evans is fully aware that the group will have to be at their very best to get their desired outcome.

City Women need to win against Brighton to give them a chance of survival, whilst hoping Villa lose away to Arsenal.

Speaking exclusively to Robins TV Evans said: “We know what the task at hand is – it’s going to be a battle to decide whether or not we stay up. We’re all raring to go and we all know what is at stake.

“I think every game is this league is tough – there are no easy games.

“We have to rise to the challenge, give it our all and play our best football. We can only control what we can control, so we have to make sure we’re on our game.”

The centre back is proud of the Robins for their turnaround in fortunes throughout the second half of the season after languishing bottom of the table on two points, five adrift of the nearest team at the turn of the year and Evans has encouraged the group to finish the job.

“We don’t want to add extra pressure on ourselves by saying ‘it’s all on this’, but it is and we know that," she said. "The turnaround has been mad, we’re very close to staying up and if you had asked if we were going to stay up around Christmas then my answer would have probably been very different.

“I’m proud of the girls for the way we have turned it around, credit to Matt (Beard) and the staff for making the turnaround possible – we won’t give up on this.”

The Welsh international knows there will be nerves amongst the camp, but she has stressed that they’re not a bad thing to have – the key is to control them.

Evans continued: “Nerves are a good thing if I am being honest, it shows that you care. It’s going to be how we control them and how if someone is struggling, we help them get out of that little pit – we’ve just got to back each other."

She added: “We have got to make sure we’re first to everything throughout the 90 minutes. There is no way we can afford to have anyone not on their game and we will all be giving 110%.

“I’m really looking forward to the challenge if I’m being honest, as are the girls – it’s going to be a big week."
