City Women have a 100% record in BS8 so far this season and the defender is keen to achieve ‘fortress’ status at home.

“We picked up a great three points on the road last weekend,” said Layzell.

“Now it’s important we keep the HPC as a solid home ground for us where teams don’t want to come and face us.

“We’ll be looking to get another win on the board and keep the ball rolling.”

The 18-year-old has been an ever-present in Lauren Smith’s side this season, part of a defence that has conceded only two goals in their opening five Championship fixtures.

“We take pride in our clean sheets,” she said.

“We want to keep ticking them off and if we do that it makes all our jobs easier, especially when the forward players are scoring like they have been.

“Last time we played Palace we scored four goals so we’re looking to maintain that confidence in front of goal and keep creating opportunities.

“I think they will make changes to the side we beat last time out but if we focus on ourselves and play the way we know we can then we’ll present a challenge for whatever team they select."
