The Vixens scheduled WSL 1 clash against Birmingham last Sunday was cancelled due to adverse weather, so today is the first outing for City Women since their comprehensive victory against Brighton and Hove Albion which saw them progress in the competition.
SGS College is closed over the Christmas period, and although the team are able to train, use of the Stoke Gifford Stadium is not possible.
The fixture is being played at the Oaklands Stadium, the Gloucestershire FA headquarters.
He said: “Training has been good, unfortunately our fixture was cancelled last weekend but we have stayed sharp and maintained match fitness with a good block of training.
“We didn’t put in the performance or get the result we wanted against Manchester City last time out in the league, so we will look to put that right.
“I’d like to extend our thanks to the Gloucestershire FA for letting us hold the game there, it is a really great facility and won’t cause the team too much disruption which is very handy for preparation.”
It is the final match of 2017 for Bristol City Women and Kirk is extremely grateful for the support the team has received this year.
Kirk added “I’d like to thank the fans for their support once again as we approach our final game of the year. I hope you all have a great Christmas and New Year and I am looking forward to seeing you when we play Everton in January.”
