"We've come here (to Reading) to compete with a WSL side and the players have done that from minute one, right up until the end of the game," said Smith.
"We had out tails up at half-time, we just needed to go again and get a chance - Abi got that chance we needed and buried it in the back of the net."
The Robins boss was also pleased to see a number of players make a return from injury and gain valuable minutes, whilst also praising the adaptability of her side.
"We have got such a competitive team for moments like this - when we need fresh legs, a different output or a tracker, because they put one of their fastest players on the pitch but we could adapt to that.
"Everyone that came on matched the intensity of the rest of the group who were on, which was great to see."
